Dr. J. Michael Dunlap is the Director of the Idaho School of Professional Hypnotherapy.
Dr. Dunlap is one of about 200 “Board Certified Hypnotists” in the world, and is well known for his client empathy, broad range, flexibility and deep insights into client problems and needs.
Dr. Dunlap prefers to be called “Mike,” he practices Hypnotherapy in Southwest Idaho and specializes in difficult and unusual areas.
Mike particularly likes working with Natural Childbirth, Sports
Enhancement, Academic Performance, IBS and Trichotillomania.
His background includes a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, two master’s degrees and a twin Ph.D. in education “Curriculum and Supervision” and in Computer Science “Programming Languages and Operating Systems.” Mike taught Junior High, High School and then taught at the University of Oregon for 10 years (mostly summers) and taught full-time at Willamette University for 19 years as professor of Computer Science. Mike is now retired from Hewlett-Packard where he worked as a senior engineer with management rank and was one of only 12 people in the country fully certified by the International Test Qualifications Board at the “Advanced” (Highest) level in software testing.
Mike thoroughly understands the Idaho School of Professional Hypnotherapy. He began as a student in the program developed by Robert Hughes. His performance was so strong that he was invited to co-teach with Robert. Ultimately his expertise in Educational Design and Curriculum was applied to create a complete re-design of the entire program.
In the last several years, Mike has managed the design, development and presentation of classes and Robert has focused on demonstrations and student practice. With Robert’s move to Richmond Virginia, his role has been replaced by Dona Coombs. Dona is a graduate of one of the most prestigious training programs in Hypnotherapy, certified by the ACHE and a graduate of the Idaho School of Professional Hypnotherapy where she enrolled to extend her basic skill set.
The Registrar and Teaching Assistant, Jeannette Weston, is also a graduate of the Idaho School of Professional Hypnotherapy, certified by the National Guild of Hypnotists and is an NGH Board Certified Hypnotist.
